Gentleman’s, or ‘Dueling’ Pistols
Currently, preparations are well underway for the production of a line of high-grade 18th century “Gentleman’s Pistols”. They will be available with brass or steel barrels and will incorporate a combination of lines, quality and beauty that is unavailable anywhere else. A high degree of customization will be available (carving, engraving, barrel length and caliber) and we will make them singly, in pairs, and even in cased sets with all the trimmings. (Consecutive numbers will also be available)
A large percentage of what are now mistakenly thought to be ‘dueling pistols’ were actually matched pistols made to order by military officers or gentlemen of means who required them for their various occupations. Usually, they were only coincidentally employed in ‘matters of honor’. That being said, whenever ‘matters of honor’ came to a head, it was usually the matched pistols of one of the principals that were chosen to settle the dispute.

Like the originals, our pistols will not be ‘single use’ arms. The quality, reliability, balance, and yes, accuracy, will highly recommend them to living historians, competitors and even hunters. Experimentation with the prototypes has shown that, far from being annoying, inaccurate, inconvenient belt weights, fine original pistols were practical, reliable and easy to use. So are ours. We will be happy to answer any questions regarding this or any other subject and articles concerning rediscovered techniques regarding every day, practical use of 18th century pistols will be forthcoming on this site. In the mean time, simply ask yourself: If pistols of that time period were as difficult and inconvenient to use effectively as the ‘conventional wisdom’ usually implies, why would anyone want them? We know why.

Other products we are either actively preparing to manufacture, or are contemplating to some degree (decision based on interest) are:
High Grade Gentleman’s, or ‘Officer’s’ Fowling Piece
Transitional ‘Virginia Jaeger’
Various Wheel locks
Military:
Mid 18th Century British ‘Sea Service’ Blunderbuss
M-1817 ‘Common’ Rifle
M-1835/40 U.S. Musket
As always, we will, of course, make anything you want. Prototypes of the above mentioned arms are pictured in our ‘Custom Portfolio”
