Film Industry Services

We provide weapons (from small arms to cannons) for sale or rent to the motion picture industry and many of our guns have been prominently featured in major movies and documentaries.  Our small arms are not worn out junk. They are the same weapons that we make for our discriminating customers. Our cannons are real, well maintained, and capable of mounted use and safe live fire for full sound and effects. Because of our knowledge of their historical employment, and by extension, the tactical and strategic use to which they were put, we have often been called upon to advise and participate in a number of productions in various roles. We have served as historical advisors, armorers (including camera front) prop masters, safety instructors and even actors. We have trained principal actors and extras in the safe and proper use of antique weapons, advised what they could and could not do, historically, and contributed a degree of realism regarding sound and effects that, in many respects, did not exist before. With numerous history degrees, and a lifetime of research and experience regarding proper 18th and 19th century artillery, infantry and cavalry drill and methods, we have helped to, literally, train armies for the big screen. Films and documentaries in which we have participated, advised, or made guns for include: “Palo Alto”, (Mexican War Documentary for the History Channel series “Battlefield Detectives”) “The Alamo” (2003), “The Patriot”, “American Outlaws”, “Ride With The Devil”, “Two For Texas”, “Time Tracers”, “Rough Riders”, to name a few. Some of these films employed truly memorable and groundbreaking effects.
As advisors, we can provide accurate, experience based historical training, explanation and advice in a variety of arenas. Because of our network of academic friends and associates, we can quickly get professional advice and support for virtually any historical subject with which we are not personally versed. Also, having been ‘living historians’ for over 30 years, we have the network of acquaintances and the practical experience to serve as ‘Re-enactor Coordinators” for productions ranging from the middle-ages to the present.
As armorers, we can serve in the field or at a ‘base camp’. We have a 5th wheel enclosed trailer that is a fully equipped rolling gunsmith shop, complete with lathe, forge, drill presses and even a small milling machine. We can fix any weapon that breaks on the set. As field armorers, we are equipped to stand ready to instruct and advise, load, clear, clean, adjust, or fix any firearm that is not sufficiently damaged to require a trip to our trailer. We are familiar and comfortable with “the way things are done” on the set and we stress safety with virtually every breath. NO ONE has ever been injured while under our instruction.
