Custom Gun-making and other Services

At Fort Comanche Frontier Firearms we perform a wide variety of custom services to an amazingly diverse clientele. We do everything from providing weapons and training for motion pictures to fixing a neighbor's broken ram-rod. But our primary interest and occupation is building custom guns. Whether these guns are 'production models' or one-of-a-kind masterpieces, the same care and attention to detail is manifested in each and every one. Even our 'production models' are custom guns because a high degree of individuality and personalization is available. Just because we might use some interchangable parts on them does not make them "run of the mill". Each is still a unique work of art--even when mated to make a matching pair.

'Full Custom' guns are just exactly that--one of a kind and built to the customer's exact, unique specifications. For these, we can use commercially made parts, if the customer wishes, (locks, barrels, etc.)

We can combine commercial parts with our own furniture that we manufacture here, or if price is no object, we will make every single part by hand--just as many fine originals were. The level of customization, decoration--and difficulty--is entirely up to our customers.

Terms:

For us to begin construction on a custom arm, we must first agree on the type and style of the weapon you desire--whether it will be a 'Production Model' , a 'Custom Arm', or entirely 'Hand-Made'. Also, within each category, there are three further alternatives: 'Plain' (Which most people would consider far from it), 'Fancy' and 'Presentation Grade'. 'Plain' describes a beautifully executed arm in respect to form and funtion, fit and finish, but with only a minimum of ornamentation. SOME ornamentation is actually standard on all our guns, even our 'plain' ones and the level of coverage is open to discussion. Our 'Fancy' guns may still use highest quality American-made locks, triggers, barrels, etc., but the furniture may be cast or forged--depending on the customer's preference. The grade of wood is the customer's choice, as is the style, complexity, and to some degree, the design of the carving and engraving. (We are highly flexible in this and even if you want a purely historical arm, there was a degree of 'bleed-over' among the various schools. We will even put 19th century-style engraving on a wheellock, for example--but we will counsel strongly against it. 'Presentation Grade' guns are simply that: They are guns that rflect the very finest of the gun-maker's art. We do only a very few of these a year and delivery time can exceed two, or even three years for an entiely Hand Made presentation grade gun. Delivery is somewhat quicker on the Presentation Grade 'Producion Models.'

Whichever grade you choose, from 'plain production' to 'hand-made presentation', rest assured, you will still possess a custom gun that was made expressly to your specifications. A weapon that will fit yo perfectly in every respect and that you will be proud to hunt or compete with, or display and pass along as a treasured heirloom. Contact us with your needs and we will be happy to discuss price, availability and delivery schedules. All guns of all grades require 25%-50% non-refundable deposit at the time of order. We accept payment in full only prior to final delivery.
